On Monday 9th September Arctic Monkeys released
their fifth album ‘AM’, which went straight to number one, a new record for the
boys! After the release of the singles ‘R U Mine?’ in 2012 ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ and ‘Why’d you only call me
when you’re high’ every Arctic Monkeys fan was in anticipation for the release
date, like a child on Christmas morning and the wait was well and truly worth
it! Every track is an absolute winner, ‘AM’ still has the original Arctic
Monkeys sound but the band has grown since the release of ‘Suck It And See’ and
this album shows this maturity. Alex Turner’s lyrics are striking as ever and
are written with a new descriptive quality. The final track ‘I Wanna Be Yours’
are words by John Cooper Clarke who has influenced Turner in his own work. Each
track flows from one to the other to create one masterpiece of an album, not
like any other.
